ENERGY CERTIFICATION
The National Energy Certification and Indoor Air Quality in Buildings (SCE) is one of the three pillars of the new legislation governing the thermal quality of buildings in Portugal and has as main objective to achieve significant energy savings for the country and for all users of buildings.
What is an Energy Certificate?
It is a document that quantifies the energy performance of a building or building unit, giving it an energy performance rating ranging from A + (most efficient) and G (less efficient).
When you need to get an Energy Certificate?
1. When you have an architectural design approved and need a thermal project -
2. When the work is finished and need an Energy Performance Certificate and Indoor Air Quality, issued by ADENE, so you can get the license to use the property.
3. When you want to sell or rent your property you must provide the purchaser or lessee the Energy Certificate.
4. When the Energy Performance Certificate and Indoor Air Quality, of the property is out of date.
The certification process is performed by the expert checks the building's regulatory compliance under applicable law and classifies it according to their energy performance and eventually disposes of measures to improve energy.
In short, the process follows these steps:
Verification of regulatory compliance (with possible measures to improve the performance of the building).
Issuance of Statement of Regulatory Compliance (DCR) needed to obtain the building permit application.
Verification of compliance with the regulation of the work and the final draft.
Issuance of Certificate of Energy and Indoor Air Quality (EC) needed to obtain the application for license.
